Meet the Maker: Valérie of Miellis Studio

Meet the Maker: Valérie of Miellis Studio
Valérie is the founder of Miellis Studio and also a member of the SortJoy team. She brings a rare combination of creativity and operational excellence—and quite honestly, she may be the most efficient person I’ve ever worked with.
Our entire team loves working with Valérie, and we couldn’t be more excited to partner with her and Miellis Studio on our custom label tags and monogramming.
We’re incredibly proud of how these new label tags have come to life. They feel elevated and luxurious, and I love that our customers can now order custom labels tailored exactly to the categories they need.
This collaboration is just the beginning, and we’re already exploring more ways to work with Valérie on future custom products.

About Miellis Studio
How did you start Miellis Studio, and what inspired the name?
Miellis Studio started in 2022 when I was planning my own bachelorette party. I wanted personalized t-shirts for the group and ended up making them myself, and I loved it so much that it grew into a small business.
These days, I focus on personalized vinyl decals and keychains, mostly for bachelorettes, girls' trips, and other celebrations.
The name comes from miel, the French word for honey. I wanted something that felt warm and a little whimsical—a name that reflects the fun, personal touches I love adding to people's special moments.
Tell us about Miellis Studio.
Miellis Studio is a small, one-woman shop specializing in personalized souvenirs for special moments, with a focus on bachelorette parties, girls' trips, and group celebrations.
I work out of my home studio, designing and producing everything myself. Most of my pieces are custom or personalized in some way because the whole point is to make someone feel celebrated.
What makes your labeling/monogramming process unique or special?
Because everything is made by hand in small batches, I'm able to pay close attention to every detail—the spacing, the weight of a font, and how a decal will sit on a particular surface.
Nothing is mass-produced; each piece is made thoughtfully, and I think that shows in the final product.
Do you have a signature style or aesthetic you bring to the work?
Clean and simple. I'm drawn to minimal type, balanced spacing, and designs that feel intentional.
Even when I'm making something playful for a bachelorette, I want it to look polished, not cluttered or overdone.

About the Collaboration
What was your reaction when you first saw SortJoy's products—what drew you to the brand?
I've always loved organizing my home (and then reorganizing it once it's already organized). So when I came across SortJoy's products, it felt like an instant fit.
The pieces are beautiful on their own, and I could picture how vinyl decals could complete them, adding that personal, finished touch. The collaboration was also a fun new direction for me: applying the same craft I use for celebrations to something more everyday and functional.
How do you approach designing labels that fit SortJoy's aesthetic?
SortJoy has a really clean, intentional look, so my job is to complement that, not compete with it. I keep the typography simple, the layouts consistent, and make sure the decals feel like they were always meant to be there.
The goal is for the finished product to look cohesive—like one thing, not two.

Her Dual Role
How does being part of the SortJoy team give you a different perspective compared to being just an outside vendor?
Being on the team means I understand the brand from the inside—the “why” behind decisions, where things are headed, and what customers are responding to.
That context changes how I design. I'm not just filling an order; I'm thinking about how each label fits into the bigger picture.
How do your two roles (Miellis Studio creator and SortJoy team member) complement each other?
They feed each other constantly. Running my own shop keeps me close to the production side—I know what's actually possible, what takes time, and what makes a personalization great versus just okay.
And being part of SortJoy keeps me thinking about brand and customer experience at a higher level. Each role makes me better at the other.

Personal
What do you hope customers feel when they see or use the labels you've made?
I hope they feel that little spark of joy you get when something is just right.
Whether it's a keychain that makes a bride-to-be laugh or a label that finally pulls a pantry together, personalization is such a small thing, but it can really make a moment (or a space) feel like yours.

Looking Ahead
What excites you most about where this collaboration is going?
Honestly, I love that we keep finding new ways to expand it—new label packs, new categories, new ideas.
There's so much room to grow, and I'm excited to keep building it alongside the SortJoy team.
